Marco Campos is a guitarist and composer. Apart from his concerts, he composes music for film, theater and ballet. His music, essentially structured on Brazilian rhythms, each year is reaching a greater international recognition.
In 2006, Marco Campos released his CD “SOLO”, recorded in Rio de Janeiro and Paris. In 2012, a new CD was released : “Flor da Alma”, recorded in Paris, in duo with percussionist Dada Viana.
On the international scene, Marco Campos has performed in the United States, Peru, Switzerland, Cape Verde, France, Germany, England, Wales, Burkina Faso and Mauritania. He composed the music for the ballet “Waterdrops”, staged in London in 2005.
Marco Campos has performed as a soloist in big events, as the II and III editions of “Bienal Internacional da Música” (2002 and 2004), the “II Forum Internacional Pan Amazonico (2003)” and the “World Social Forum /2009”, events occurring in the city of Belém (PA), the largest city in the Amazon region.
In September / 2009, Marco Campos recorded two special programs for Brazilian television (TV Cultura), both displayed in special programming year-end 2009.
In May / 2013, he presented his music on tour in England, accompanied by English musicians, cello and percussion. In June / 2014, returned to the UK for a new tour (15 concerts), in several festivals in England and Wales, as, for instance, Bath Fringe Festival and Aldenburgh Festival. In June / 2015, he made a new UK tour – the third consecutive year – with concerts in England (including South Park – London) and Wales.
In April / May 2016, back in Europe, he performed in Paris concerts alongside percussionist Felix Gibbons. In 2017, Marco Campos composed the original soundtrack for the feature film “AIKEWARA – A Ressureição de Um Povo (AIKEWARA – The Resurrection of a People)”, documentary about this Brazilian indigena tribe. In December of that same year, he performed in several concerts in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), guest of the multi-arts festival “Un Village Dans Une Ville”. In 2018, he composed the music for the television series “PALMARES – Coração Brasileiro, Alma Africana (PALMARES – Brazilian Heart, African Soul)”, about the “Quilombo dos Palmares”, nucleus of the black resistance to slavery in Brazil during the seventeenth century. In October 2019, Marco Campos performed in Nouakchott, Mauritania, guest artist for the Culture Metisse Festival.
At this time (December 2019), Marco Campos is writing the score for a new TV series, about the Transamazon Highway.
